Multi-Chem Friction Reducers and Chemical Solutions to Help Maintain Pipeline Integrity and Optimize Completion Operations
Multi-Chem’s line of friction reducers are developed to help with reducing friction in a wide variety of conditions and can easily be incorporated into other chemical applications, such as oxygen scavengers, scale controllers and bactericides increasing their overall effectiveness.
Benefits
- Decreases the amount of horsepower needed during fracturing; lowering costs
- Increase water injection rate for disposal or enhanced production, with no need for increased pressures
- Increase flow rate of produced fluids
Unwanted friction can be a big problem with modern machinery, and pipelines are no different. When fluid is forced to flow in a pipe, its center flows faster than its sides, rubbing against the wall. Above critical velocity, this center flows so much faster that it is sucked back to the side by the vacuum causing the vortex turbulence in the center of the pipe, consuming the energy that would otherwise cause the fluid to move forward normally.
This is especially critical in frac jobs, where fluids need to be pumped at a rate sufficient enough to fracture the formation. Water, without friction reducers, may not be able to physically achieve the desired flow rate due to the friction generated.
Mutli-Chem friction reducers work by reducing fluid turbulence and recapturing the energy that would have been lost, allowing frac waters to flow faster, with less pumping pressure applied. Up to 70% increases in flow or 40% decreases in pressure can be achieved, while also reducing erosion on the tubulars, increasing their effective life.
If you are having issues with pipeline friction and decreased flow rates, Multi-Chem can perform an extensive on-site evaluation of your system to determine a chemical solution that best fits your production needs.
